Microneedling

Are there any side effects or risks associated with skin needling? 
Microneedling treatments carried out professionally are very safe procedures, which carry minimal risk of adverse skin reactions.  After the treatment your skin will appear flushed and feel warm – this will seem very similar to a mild sunburn. In the days following your treatment, depending on the intensity and depth of the procedure and the condition of your skin, you may experience a tight feeling and light flaking of the skin for 2 -3 days. It is vital that you follow all the necessary aftercare advice.
 

How quickly are results visible?
Visibly rejuvenated skin can generally be seen after just 6-8 days following a procedure, with results further improving over time. A course of Microneedling sessions is usually recommended to achieve optimal results; however, improvement is usually noticeable after just one treatment.

What can be expected after Microneedling treatment?

• Day of treatment: You will have redness and mild swelling, your skin will feel tight and may feel hot and stingy for a couple of hours after treatment.

• Day 2: Red or pink hue similar to moderate sunburn may persist. There may be some swelling on the second day, but this can be covered with mineral makeup (24 hours post treatment).

• Day 3: Skin may still retain a pink hue, or return to normal colour.

• Day 4-7: You skin may have some dryness and flaking which is perfectly normal and making way for your new radiant glow.
   

Which areas can be treated?
Microneedling can be used to treat most areas of the body. Most common areas are face, neck and décolletage, but other areas such as stomach, back, tops of knees/arms/ thighs (cellulite) and hands can also be treated.
 

What Microneedling serum is right for me?

At Opia Radiance we use two different world renowned grade medical brands of serums by Derma 2.0 and Dermapen DP Dermaceuticals depending on your individual needs. Cocktails of serums can also be combined to target multiple concerns.Each serum is packed full of high potency ingredients to target the skins specific issue. At your initial consultation I will discuss with you what you want to achieve from the treatment in terms of addressing your concerns and sometime this may mean a mix of serums are needed to achieve the best results. Serums include;

• Derma 2.0 Tone is a firming treatment based on highly concentrated DMAE. Dimethylaminoethanol usable in cases of loss of tone on the face and body. As a precursor of acetylcholine, its main action is to restore tone to the tissues. Derma 2.0 Tone Up DMAE also has strong anti-free radical properties. What device for treatment do you use?

At Opia Radiance we pride ourselves on using only the best technologically advanced and medically approved devices. We never use cheap devices such as Dr.Pen or Dermal Rollers that are not only painful, but can cause long term damage to the skin.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Unfortunately, not all treatments are for everyone. Please check our contraindications list to make sure you avoid disappointment.Conditions that would mean you were not able to have this treatments:

• Pregnant/Nursing

• HIV/AIDS

• Cancer (all forms)

• Undergoing chemotherapy or immune therapy

• Immunodeficiency

• Lupus

• High blood pressure (uncontrolled)

• Insulin dependent diabetics

• Prednisone and other steroid medications (treatment will increase inflammation)

• Heart problems or diseases

• Haemorrhagic disease, trauma or bleeding

• Scleroderma

• Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation

• Solar Keratosis

• Anticoagulants / Blood thinners (including but limited to Warfarin or aspirin)

• Nickel or stainless steal allergies

• Active Acne

• Pregnant or breastfeeding

• Clients under 18 years of age

• Severe allergies or history of anaphylaxis
  
  PRIOR TO TREATMENT

• *If you are feeling unwell/ taking antibiotics on the day, suffering form any form of skin infection, have a facial outbreak of Eczema/Dermatitis/ Psoriasis. Pregnant or Breast feeding, Taking medication for your skin (Roaccutane/steroids ect). Taking blood thinning or photosensitising medication. History of Anaphylaxis. Cystic, infected or inflamed acne or acne Rosacea Diabetes type 1. Immunosuppressant diseases such as Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV. Epilepsy, Suffering from an active cold sore.
  
  AFTERCARE

• After treatment your skin may feel hot (like sunburn), be red and swollen and may have some pinpoint bleeding spots. This should all calm down within 24-48 hours

• Avoid touching your face as much as possible for 8 hours to avoid causing further irritation and possible infection. If you have a pet it is imperative that you do not let them lick your face. Glasses will also need to be cleaned post treatment with an antibacterial wipe

• When cleaning the face please use a clean damp cotton pad or flannel lightly for the first 48 hours.

• For the first 1-3 days, the skin will may feel dry and tight. A good moisturiser will help alleviate this

• Please refrain from wearing makeup for the first 24 hours. Please ensure that any make-up brushes have been cleaned prior to use post treatment as they harbour bacteria and may cause infection and breakouts

• Please ensure that your sleeping pillows are clean on after treatment to avoid bacterial infection.

• Avoid alcohol-based toners, any products with Retinols, BHA’s, AHA’s, salicylic or glycolic acids products for 7 days and avoid products containing Vitamin C for 3 days.

• Avoid direct sun exposure, sunbeds and saunas for at least 10 days after treatment and use a physical sunscreen at all times when outside even if it’s cloudy.

• After 2-3 days you are able to return to your regular skin care products or as soon as it is comfortable to do so.

• After 5 days you can gently exfoliate the skin to remove any flaky dead skin

• Do not apply spray facial tanning or fake tanning creams for 2 weeks after the treatment.

• Avoid any other facial treatments including Botox, fillers, lasers and dermabrasion for 14 days after treatment.

• Do not work out/get sweaty around the facial area or use a swimming pool for 48 hours post treatment
