  • What will happen during my treatment?

    • Consultation - Each Microboost session begins with a detailed consultation and skin assessment.

    • Product decisions - A decision will be made as to which skin booster will get the best results for your skin concerns.

    • Treatment - After the skin is prepared and booster is applied the microneedling treatment will proceed, once complete a cooling mask will be applied. 

    • Dermalux MD light therapy will be applied to accelerate healing, boost collagen and elastin production, calm inflammation, and maximise the booster’s effects.

    • Finishing - Your skin will be hydrated using microneedling safe products.

    What is the difference between a Skin Booster and a standard microneedling serum?

    When microneedling is performed as a standalone treatment, a specialised glide serum is applied to allow the device to move smoothly and safely across the skin. Traditional glide serums are primarily hydrating, as the main focus of standalone microneedling is collagen stimulation through controlled skin renewal.

    When microneedling is combined with a skin booster, the treatment is elevated further. In addition to collagen induction from the microneedling process, the skin simultaneously receives targeted, bioactive ingredients that penetrate more effectively, enhancing hydration, skin quality and overall results.   • Will it hurt?

    No, Microneedling when administered correctly should not be overly painful. There should only be a little discomfort and you will be in charge the entire time and the settings of the device can be altered to your comfort. Due to expertise and experience the treatment is performed quickly and efficiently.

  • Microboost results can be seen in as little as a week, with the initial glow and plumping setting in. Best results are seen in 4-8 weeks, once the skin cycle has finished it’s reset. Collagen induction results can continue to be seen for up to a year. A course of Microboosts are recommended for with regular top -ups for best long term results.

  • Contraindications

    Microboost is not suitable if you have any of the following:

    • You are pregnant or breastfeeding 

    • You are sick or feeling unwell on the day 

    • Taking antibiotics/steroid medication (wait 14 days after treatment has ended)

    • Suffering from any form of skin infection/ condition have a facial outbreak of Eczema/Dermatitis/ Psoriasis/ Scleroderma or active coldsore

    • Pregnant or Breast feeding

    • Taking medication for your skin (Roaccutane wait 6-12 months once treatment has ended) 

    • Taking blood thinning medication 

    • History of Anaphylaxis or known allergy to product ingredients including Nickel or stainless steal allergies 

    • Cystic, infected or inflamed acne 

    • Diabetes type 1 

    • Immunosuppressant diseases such as Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, HIV

    • Heart problems or diseases

    • Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation

    • Solar Keratosis

    • Epilepsy

    • Fish allergy if having polynucleotides

    • Clients under 18 years of age

    Skin Booster Contraindications (all types):

    • Known hypersensitivity to any components of the chosen booster (Hyaluronic Acid, PN, Exosomes, Collagen X)

    • Autoimmune disorders or connective tissue disease affecting healing

    • Current infections or inflammation in the treatment area

    Dermalux Light Therapy Contraindications:

    • Epilepsy or photosensitive conditions

    • Use of photosensitising medications (certain antibiotics, retinoids, chemotherapy agents)

    • Active cancer treatment or cancer diagnosis within the last 12 months

    • Pregnancy (as a precaution)

     

    Possible Complications & Adverse Reactions

    Microboost is safe when administered by a highly trained practitioner. Potential reactions include:

    Common and temporary:

    • Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at injection/microneedling sites

    • Small bruises or temporary firmness

    • Slight warmth from Dermalux light therapy

    Less common:

    • Infection (extremely rare)

    • Temporary uneven product distribution (resolves with follow-up)

    • Allergic reactions to product components (rare)

    Strict technique and adherence to aftercare reduce all risks.

     

    Aftercare & Recovery

    After your Microboost session:

    • Avoid touching your face 8 hours to avoid causing irritation/ infection. Do not let a pet lick your face and clean glasses rim with an antibacterial wipe.

    • For the first 1-3 days, the skin will may feel dry/tight, and may lightly peel.

    • Please refrain from wearing makeup for the first 24 hours.

    • Avoid alcohol-based toners, products with Retinols, BHA’s, AHA’s, salicylic or glycolic acids products for 7 days and avoid products containing Vitamin C for 3 days.

    • Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and saunas for at least 10 days and use and SPF daily.

    • No fake tanning products on the treated area for 7 days after the treatment.

    • No other skin treatment for 14 days

    • Do not do a heavy work out/get sweaty around the facial area or use a swimming pool for 24 hours post treatment.

    • Downtime is minimal, and most clients can return to daily activities immediately.

    More aggressive does not mean more effective. Whether the treatment involves injectables, energy-based devices, or skin resurfacing, excessive or poorly judged intervention can compromise skin integrity and accelerate ageing rather than improve it.
